Gull Lake LEED Home

Energy Efficiency

Computer modeling was used to fit the heating and cooling system to the home’s exact energy needs. Superior materials, like an insulated concrete form foundation, spray-foam insulation, and high-efficiency windows, were used. All possible air leaks — even the smallest and usually overlooked areas like electrical boxes — were sealed using foams and sealants.  Only high- efficiency, Energy Star appliances were used. A third-party blower door test (shown here) was used to verify that the heating and cooling system was functioning at peak effectiveness and that all areas of possible heat loss had been addressed.
